Conditions

1 Acceptance of Terms

By making an enquiry or booking with Ed-Et Tours (hereinafter "the Company," "we," "us," or "our"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not proceed with your booking.

These terms apply to all tours offered through our website, email communications, or other official channels unless explicitly stated otherwise in a written contract.

2 Booking Process & Confirmation

EnquirySubmitting an enquiry does not constitute a confirmed booking.
ProposalYou will receive a customised itinerary proposal with pricing within 48–72 hours.
ConfirmationYour trip is only confirmed upon receipt of a signed Proposal/Contract and required deposit.
ReferenceYou will receive a formal Booking Confirmation with a unique Reference Number.

All bookings are subject to availability at the time of confirmation. The Company reserves the right to suggest alternative dates, accommodations, or activities if requested options are unavailable.

3 Payment Terms

Deposits must be paid within 7 days of receiving your proposal to secure reservations. Failure to complete payment may result in cancellation and forfeiture of deposit.

Balance Payment

  • Full balance is due no later than 60 days prior to your arrival date in Sri Lanka.
  • For bookings made within 60 days of departure, 100% payment is required immediately upon confirmation.

Accepted Payment Methods

  • Bank Transfer (USD, EUR, GBP)
  • Credit/Debit Card (Visa, Mastercard) — 4% processing fee applies
  • Online Payment Link (via secure gateway)

All international bank charges outside Sri Lanka are the responsibility of the payer. Payments must be made in USD unless otherwise agreed in writing.

4 Cancellation Policy

We understand travel plans can change. Our cancellation policy balances flexibility with operational commitments.

Special Circumstances

Visa RejectionNo refund. It is the guest's responsibility to obtain necessary visas before booking.
Family BereavementDiscretionary credit for future travel may be offered (valid 12 months).

5 Rescheduling & Changes

We offer one-time rescheduling privileges for genuine reasons:

Important All rescheduling requests must be submitted in writing via email. An administrative fee of USD $200 applies to all changes.

6 Guest Responsibilities

Travel Documentation

You are solely responsible for ensuring you possess:

  • Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity beyond travel dates)
  • Correct visa/Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for Sri Lanka
  • Any required vaccinations or health certificates
  • Travel tickets and onward/return flight confirmations

Ed-Et Tours cannot be held liable for denied entry, deportation, or additional costs arising from documentation failures.

Health & Safety

  • You must inform us of any medical conditions or mobility needs during booking.
  • Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all guests.
  • Certain activities (e.g., safaris, trekking, water sports) carry inherent risks; participation is at your own discretion.

Conduct

Guests are expected to respect local laws, customs, religious sites, and cultural norms. Misconduct resulting in service disruption or termination is the guest's financial responsibility.

8 Limitation of Liability

Ed-Et Tours takes reasonable care in selecting accommodation, transport providers, guides, and activity partners. However:

  • We act as arranging agent for third-party services.
  • We are not liable for delays, cancellations, accidents, injuries, or loss caused by third-party suppliers.
  • Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the affected portion of the tour.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages including lost profits, loss of enjoyment, or additional expenses incurred during the tour.

In the unlikely event of negligence proven against Ed-Et Tours directly, maximum compensation shall not exceed the total package value paid.

9 Force Majeure

Force Majeure refers to events beyond our reasonable control, including:

  • Natural disasters (earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, hurricanes)
  • Political instability, civil unrest, war, terrorism
  • Pandemics, epidemics, government travel restrictions
  • Aviation shutdowns or major infrastructure failures

In such cases, we will notify you as soon as practicable and offer options including rescheduling, future travel credit, or a refund for unused portions subject to amounts recoverable from our third-party suppliers.

Please Note Personal circumstances — illness, visa issues, work conflicts — do not qualify as Force Majeure.

10 Claims & Disputes

  • Any concerns during your tour should be reported to your guide or driver immediately so we can attempt resolution.
  • Formal complaints must be submitted in writing within 7 days of tour completion.
  • Disputes shall first be resolved amicably between parties.
  • If unresolved, disputes fall under Sri Lankan law and the jurisdiction of Colombo courts.

11 Photography & Marketing

By booking with us, you grant Ed-Et Tours permission to use photographs or videos taken during your tour for promotional purposes. You may opt out by notifying us in writing before or during your trip. We never share identifiable images without additional consent.

12 Property Damage

You are responsible for any damage caused to vehicles, hotel rooms, or facilities during your tour. Repair or replacement costs will be charged accordingly.

13 Amendments

We reserve the right to amend these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website. Continued booking constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
