Overview
Sri Lanka is a country that reveals itself in layers. Beneath the surface of a single island lies an entire world — ancient kingdoms carved into rock, misty tea-covered mountains, untamed jungles where leopards roam, and palm-fringed coastlines shaped by centuries of trade and conquest.
Layers of Lanka is a signature 12-day journey, designed to take you through each of these worlds without ever feeling rushed. Over twelve days, you will climb the 5th-century fortress of Sigiriya, walk among the cave temples of Dambulla, witness evening prayers at Kandy's Temple of the Sacred Tooth, and ride through the emerald hills to the hill country. You will track wild leopards on safari in Yala National Park, wander the Dutch-built streets of Galle Fort, and watch fishermen balance on stilts above the Indian Ocean at sunset.
But the moments you will remember most are not in any guidebook. They are the ones that happen along the way — a home-cooked dinner with a farming family in a village outside Sigiriya, fresh kottu roti from a roadside stall in the hill country, and sundowners in the bush as the sky turns amber over Yala. Travelling with your own local host aboard comfortable transport, this is Sri Lanka experienced properly — with space to rest, to wander, and to discover something that was not on the schedule.
